I was approached in Summer 2023 about creating a Berlin doodle map mural at the Innside by Melia Berlin Mitte hotel. As I had lived in Berlin for a short time 10 years earlier and as it is the place that I consider my art career to have started, I was very excited about this opportunity.
When I was doing my research for this piece I was excited to go through the variety of buildings that were going to be illustrated on the map. Berlin has had so many historic and memorable events in its unique history and the mix of landmarks to illustrate on the map really highlighted that.
This mural took me around 4 and a half days to complete, which surprised me a bit as it was a big wall and I am usually done quite a bit quicker. But I think it was just down to the amount of detail that was required on the buildings on the design. I loved drawing Berlin and I hope to have an opportunity to do so again in the future!
